Reba Sue and her Maw are trapped in their attic after a flood. Reba Sue ventures out on the roof looking for help, but the only help available is from her ex-husband and his brother. She refuses their help, much to her Maw's chagrin.
No props are required for the play, but the set requirements are special — an attic, its adjoining rooftoop, and possibly a window. The script makes the setting clear, so the merest suggestion of a set would suffice.
Rexcue Me is driven by the comic bickering between Reba Sue and her Maw, one of whose bones of contention is Maw's mispronunciation of the word "rescue." Their differing generational views on marriage and marital violence also spark argument, with an uneasy truce established by the end.
The script is also available as a 15-minute radio play, adding an announcer and expanding the action to include water and window sound effects.
