Bruce, raised in isolation from his siblings in foster care, is getting married to his long-time boyfriend, Roger, whom he first met in childhood. Bruce's friend Vale knows secrets about the start of their relationship that he shares at the worst possible times when Bruce's sister Ardis shows up unexpectedly. Will Ardis' presence throw this May-December gay relationship off track?
Gay-December Marriage requires a simple living room set and a few common household props, along with some wedding decorations. A sleeping cat (real or realistic) may also be part of the action.
While there is some comedy, particularly from swishy Vale and his older partner Tommy, serious topics of childhood abuse, foster care, and mental illness are raised. Gay-December Marriage challenges stereotypical views of child abuse and the religious right, resulting in a bittersweet truce of viewpoints.
