A nanny applicant, umbrella aloft, arrives at an English manor. She tells the homeowner she has been given the job, but another applicant immediately arrives and declares her an imposter. As they squabble, the homeowner repeatedly scurries off in unsuccessful attempts to find the housekeeper. The first applicant suddenly departs, then returns as applicant for an assistant housekeeper position. More confusion ensues, until the second applicant gives up and leaves. The first applicant then escorts the senile homeowner away, to an old age home for the mentally and physically impaired.
The ten-minute-or-less play is easy to produce, with only an umbrella and a cane as props, which are used in sword-play as the two applicants battle. As the title implies, the plot revolves around a suddenly-appearing nanny, but she is not the magical figure one might expect.
