Cheese Louise centers around long-time boyfriend Derek and girlfriend Mia, who like to play dress-up sex games. When Mia's cousin Louise shows up unexpectedly, Derek thinks it's another dress-up disguise. The friction that then develops between Derek and Louise is tempered by Mia's explanations and the offer of accommodations by downstairs neighbor Abe. All turns out well in the end.
The action takes place in Mia's one-bedroom apartment, with a guest bed present in the living area. Doors to the bedroom and bathroom are on one side, and a kitchen counter and outside door are upstage. At the end of act one, action takes place in the hallway outside the apartment, so a pull-away upstage wall would accommodate that action.
Cheese Louise takes a comic approach to the material, combining mistaken identity, running gags, and funny costumes to create a world populated by four twenty-somethings. The level of naughtiness on display is little more than in a sex farce – enough to provoke titters without blatantly offending. Still, this is a comedy that is NOT for the whole family.
