Astrid's collection of stuffed animals has become an obsession, and now she believes she hears them talking to her, specifically one sock monkey. As her husband Lars attempts to comfort and reassure her, the audience too hears and sees the monkey. Is it imaginary, or part of a dastardly plot?
With just stuffed animals as props and somewhere for the person manipulating the sock monkey to hide, A Monkey on My Back is an easy play to produce, with off-kilter humor and over-the-top terror combining with a bit of a twist ending to produce an entertaining ten-minute black comedy.
