Lesson One

1m, 2w
1m 18-20; 2w 16-18

Shandra has accompanied her friend Zeela to a field outside town. Shandra is extremely nervous to begin with, and becomes more so as Morehead arrives and makes moves to complete a transaction Shandra isn't sure she wants to go through with. Zeela and Morehouse assuage her fears, but after she leaves, we learn that they have nefarious plans for her.

This short play sets up a situation in which Shandra is uncomfortable, and just after Zeela and Morehouse lull her into comfort, we learn that Shandra's uneasiness was well-placed. The unsettled tone of the piece leads to an ominous conclusion. Shandra's first lesson in life will be one she regrets learning.

Production requirements are simple for Lesson One, since the action takes place in an empty field. Costuming can add a splash of color and style to the proceedings.
