A clueless reverend presides at the funeral of a young woman he did not know. The woman's twin sister comforts her non-speaking mother, slowly letting out the secrets of the disasters that have befallen their family.
The setting is a funeral home or church, with a pew for the young woman and mother and a pulpit for the reverend. Other pews may be filled by mourners who sing when an entrance is made by the dead daughter (doubled by the living daughter).
The comic befuddlement of the reverend contrasts with the running commentary of the young woman, which builds suspense and dread as the ending approaches.
