Finite Love

2m, 2w, 2 either (written as female)
2m 25-35; 2w 25-35; 1 either 45-65, 1 either 25-45

A small tour group has arrived in a town that contains a fountain in its central square that is said to have the remarkable power to initiate a love affair when a coin is tossed into it, but only after the last couple to feel its powers has had a disagreement within sight of the fountain. One by one, the tourists and a local couple fall under the spell of the fountain, with the final coupling based on true attraction, not on the magic of the fountain. Comedy and romance combine to weave a spell of their own.

Finite Love contains roles for six actors, two of whom speak a foreign language, either real or faux. The other four are a tour guide, an older tourist, and two younger tourists. The foreign couple and the two younger tourists are written as male and female; the tour guide and older tourist could be either sex, but would work most traditionally as females.

Apart from the central fountain (which does not have to be operational), production requirements are fairly simple. Props are just a purse or two, a piece of fruit, a handkerchief, a coffee cup, and some coins. Sound effects needed are music for when the fountain works its magic and the sounds of a crowbar beating at a tour bus. Costumes need only be street clothes, but visual interest could be enhanced by dressing the foreign couple in some sort of traditional garb.
